Tate Tsuki

- 1 min read

Tate Tsuki is the vertical punch of Karate. Actually, it’s a very broad term that’s used to describe any punch that leaves the hand vertical without rotating it to an horizontal position. Using a Tate variant may be useful when you there’s more space vertically to hit than there is orizzontally. Keep in mind that using this in traditional competition may be considered an imperfection rather than a technique.

Traditional execution:

  • To obtain the Tate variant, perform any punch you want and switch the fist rotation from orizzontal to vertical
