Morote-Tsuki

- 1 min read

Morote-Tsuki is the double punch of Karate. It involves simultaneus punches to chudan. It torpedoes your guard and has a very limited range of application (such as using one punch as an hard block, which can lead to injury). This technique is more of an exercise and shouldn’t be attempted in combat.

Traditional execution:

  • Get in Heiko Dachi
  • Perform either:
    • two Choku-Tsuki’s simultaneously to chudan
    • an Oi-Tsuki and a Gyako-Tsuki simultaneously to chudan
  • Kiai! at maximum extention (optional)
  • While retracting perform another move (e.g: another Morote-Tsuki)

Variations:

  • There’s a variation that involves throwing one punch to jodan while the other to chudan (Morote-Heiko-Tsuki).
