Kizami-Tsuki is the jab punch of Karate. Very similar to Oi-Tsuki, it’s more relaxed and uses small hip movement to give him significant more strenght and speed compared to the previous. Plus, you don’t need to lunge as much, making it an effective move in all sorts of Kumite and versatile in self defense situations.
Traditional execution:
- Get in Heiko Dachi
- Almost close your fists, but not completely
- Extend one arm while slightly rotating the torso.
- Simultaneously, make a one meter step with the leg that’s in the same side of the punch
- Before maximum extension close your hand
- Kiai! at maximum extention (optional)
- While retracting perform another move (e.g: another Kizami-Tsuki)
Kumite execution:
- Get in Kumite no Kamae and bounce a little
- Extend one arm while slightly rotating the torso, it doesn’t matter which one
- Simultaneously, protect your face with your other hand
- Kiai! if you are competing in point sparring
